Swine Flu Fears

It is very scary - when the young NY girl, who had not gone to Mexico with her class, still caught swine flu probably just from touching something another student had touched.

On a good note - Tamiflu sales will go way up - after falling off the charts for the last two flu seasons when it was shown that Tamiflu did not help certain strains of flu that appeared in 2007 and 2008.

Strange this pandemic they are predicting does respond almost immediately to Tamiflu treatments? Just another happy coincidence for the Hoffman LaRoche pharmaceutical company?

Was The Plane Over NY Really A Photo OP?

Does anyone else find the news story about the fighter jets "accompanying" an "unmarked" 747 across ths Manhattan skyline for a Photo Op more than a little strange? Are we being fed a plausible lil government lie, to avert fear from what was really going on?

It just doesn't ad up at all. The Mayor of NY didn't even know, the police were told to refer questions to the FAA - who of course would have had to be involved in any violation of air space over NY. The management of the buildings or the businesses were not notified. People were scared.

Sorry, this dog just don't hunt in my opinion. I do hope it leaks out somewhere. I just hate a bad coverup when it all washes out.

Wine Styles - Hot New Spot For Tastings and Live Music

And Four To Go -Going to a Wine Tasting at Wine Styles

We live in a growing area that had nothing but a couple of grocery stores when we moved in six years ago. Not today. We have some nice upscale stores and restaurants, a Kohls with an escalator to a second floor(tres chic), a movie theatre.

Recently a wine store came into the area, but no one I knew went there or knew much about it. The hung a big banner out "Wine Tastings Saturdays 5:30". We love wine, and we love experiencing wines. Definitely not aficionados, just love wines and have had the privilege to go to several nice wineries in California, Missouri, North Carolina,Italy and France.

Curiousity piqued, we headed up to Wine Styles last Saturday night. It's a charming bistro type place with lounge type tables and chairs, a cool wine bar, and some nice soft rock music provided by a guitarist.

The cost for the tasting was $7.00 each person - for seven different varietals of wine, served by a knowledgeable wine vendor that changes weekly. The staff were great, they explained a little about each type of wine in the tasting, keep up with everyone and answered questions in a friendly way. Never any pressure to purchase the wines, which we liked. They also offer Wine Club memberships that give you discounts on the tastings and the wine store.

When you ran through the wine tasting wines, you could buy a bottle of that or any of the other well stocked wines, or you can also purchase by the glass. I also never felt pressure to leave, or give up my chair to turn tables.

Wine styles is one of my new favorite places, very close to home, very casual relaxing atmosphere, and by the way some nice wines at reasonable prices. They also have some pricier wines in their well stocked wine racks. Something for everybody!

Vacuum Cleaner Reviews - Unpaid Review

After 10 years, I noticed my 10 year old Electrolux upright vacuum cleaner was not cleaning. We purchased that vacuum from a misleading ad in the paper 10 years ago. (Think door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman).

I knew after having having that heavy, unblanced, upright vacuum cleaner exactly what I did not want this time around , and what was important to me. I work 3 minutes from Capital Vacuum, in Cary NC, and just dropped by on my lunch hour. Sharon told me the advantages of the Miele Canister vacuum system (which was on sale).

I researched the system on the www.miele.com website, went back and purchased my Polar Ice S-5 model.

It is hands down the very best vacuum I've ever owned in 25+ years of house-keeping. It has amazing suction power (more than my Kirby and Electrolux combined). The tools on board are so much better than remembering where one put the tools-kit or the hose, makes it so easy. With the Miele, I simply disconnect the flexile hose, connect my cleaning tool, and keep going. The canister rolls along smoothly, and the very best part - retractable cord.

I feel like my home is cleaner, the dust bunnies are scattering to new homes, and I can carry the whole system upstairs in one hand (hooray)! Bonus - all dust mites and insect carcuses are off my window sills. I give this Miele Vacuum a 10+ for efficieency, suction. tools-on-board ease, and on overall cleaning.

Please consider your local vacuum retailers when making this decision. They have more product knowledge, and let you actually plug in and "kick the wheels" on the vacuum.

I'm so happy I don't have to carry a "small kid" up the stairs just to vacuum the upstairs. I love, love, love this system. I was vacuuming to "I love this Miele" last night!!!
